Charles Rennie
Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s work is integral to the character of Glasgow as a modern, cultural and forward thinking city. The sculpture draws on his designs as inspiration. The distinctive design combines the geometric with the botanical and strong verticals are mixed with more organic swirling forms.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. We run the Glasgow Subway, a host of specialist bus services, and are responsible for delivering better public transport for all. SPT plans and delivers transport solutions for all modes of transport across the region. We subsidise socially necessary bus services when private bus operators withdraw or change services, leaving rural towns and villages without public transport. A key part of our remit is to help keep communities connected when there are no commercial services and provide transport for people with disabilities. SPT operates the Glasgow Subway, the world’s third oldest underground railway, serving around 13 million passengers every year. The Subway is currently undergoing a £288 million modernisation programme which will see new trains and a new communication based control system introduced to the Subway ensuring its future well into the 21st century and for generations to come.
