Oor Friend
This design commemorates The People’s Friend magazine in its 150th year. Both the “Friend” and Oor Wullie are integral parts of the DC Thomson story; enduring and well loved cornerstones of the media company based in Dundee. Around Oor Wullie’s body are landmarks from the five cities in which Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail is taking place, painted in the style of J. Campbell Kerr, creator of the magazine’s cover artwork. A selection of vintage pages surround the golden bucket, celebrating the rich history of the publication. This statue pays an affectionate nod to the past while embracing the future.
