Oor Rose Wullie

Rosewell is a former mining village. The mine or pit as it was known was closed down in 1961. The pupils were inspired by their recent mining project and visit to the mining museum. The pupils discovered that long ago children worked down the mines from a very early age. They wondered what Oor Wullie would have made of this and how he would look dressed up for work. We are very proud of our local heritage and you can still see the remnants of the mining industry in the village today. We have a challenge for you: How many features of mining can you spot on Oor Rose Wullie?
